If you're seeking an authentic taste of Kerala that resonates with the local culture, look no further than Shivan Chettan's Tea Shop. Nestled near the serene Vimmala Temple in Valayanchirangara, Airapuram, this charming cafe is a hidden gem that reflects the vibrant spirit of the community.

Step inside and you’ll immediately be enveloped by the warm ambiance accentuated by the sound of temple chants and melodies wafting through the air. It’s more than just a place to grab a cup of tea; it’s an experience that tantalizes your senses and warms your heart.

The menu at Shivan Chettan's focuses on traditional South Indian comfort food, drawing in both locals and visitors alike. Highlights include crispy Ullivada and Paripp Vada, perfect snack companions to their perfectly brewed tea made from fresh milk. Early risers can’t resist their delicious dosa paired with papadavada and an authentic chammandhi, which has quickly become a favorite for many patrons. Customers rave about the meals being not only tasty but also incredibly affordable, making each visit a delightful culinary adventure.

Reviews paint a vivid picture of Shivan Chettan's Tea Shop as a delightful stop. Customer Basil Paul describes it as "one of the best tea shops in our locality," where every visit is accompanied by a good vibe thanks to its proximity to the temple, while Gulam Ahmed K I emphasizes that the morning dosa and pappadam are simply unmissable. For those who thrive on the essential experience of dining in a cozy, small-town eatery, customer Hari Karunakaran's feedback underscores that it’s the senses that are truly engaged here—not just the food.

Despite its somewhat limited menu that varies throughout the day, the quality of the food remains consistently high, satisfying even the most discerning palates. However, be prepared for the peak hours; as Prajeesh C J points out, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, the shop can get quite busy, reinforcing how beloved it is in the area.

In short, whether you are there for a quick snack or a relaxing tea time, Shivan Chettan's Tea Shop is a must-visit for anyone in Airapuram. This quaint cafe doesn’t just serve food; it delivers a slice of local culture and community that you’ll want to come back to time and time again.

It is one of the best tea shops in our locality, we always feel a good vibe whenever we enter to have a snack by hearing chants and songs from a nearby temple. Everything from 'dosa' to 'cheru kadi' is so good and tasty, one of my favourite things over there is (dosa and papadavada with chammandhi), have a try.

It’s the experience of dining in a small town restaurant than the food that gets your attention. Typical nonsensical homemade food. The items available are limited depending on the time you visit them. Liked their food, tea and the coffee that we had.
